About me

vicks studio and pups

Hi, I'm Vick and I'm lucky enough to work from my studio cabin in the heart of beautiful mid-Norfolk, with the 'help' of my loveable Whippet idiots, Lupin and Lily. I've always loved animals (more than anything else really), which is why they always feature in my work. I have a zoology degree and for 14 years I worked for the brilliant Dogs Trust charity in their London office, before requiring a lifestyle change and a move to the country.

Until recently I worked for some time as a polymer clay artist but as the clay became difficult to source during the pandemic, and suffering from the wear and tear on my hands that sculpting with the stiffer clay brings, I took the decision to move into ceramics. It has been a very steep learning curve but fortunately I quite like a challenge! I also love to work in linoprint and paint hounds in watercolour and ink - custom portraits may be coming soon...

Now, as well as sculpting my Houndlings (like the original polymer clay Houndlings, only bigger and heavier!), I am also producing decorative and functional ceramics, mostly decorated with Whippet and Sighthound designs. At the moment, everything I make is handbuilt with slabs, coils or pinched (not thrown on a wheel). This means that everything I make is unique and sometimes a little delightfully wonky - but that's handmade for you - imperfectly perfect!

You can keep up to date with what's happening and new items coming into the shop by following me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (click on the icons at the bottom of the page) - or subscribe to my newsletter, where you'll get new stock alerts 24 hours before I post on social media. I'm hoping to attend some events with my ceramics this year in Norfolk/Suffolk, so hopefully I may see some of you there! (P.S. always bring your dogs over to see me.)
